New Camera

Photobucket
                              Ben and his shadow.

Got a new (to me) camera this week.  A Cannon 20D.  I already had a Rebel XT with a 50mm and a 70-300mm lens that I traded off.  A guy at work was selling just the body, and I thought it might be nice to have a body for each of my lenses.  It has been fun getting to know the new camera.  Here a few pictures from baseball and a family wedding this weekend that I took with the new camera.

Blue drink, blue lips, blue teeth.

Tyler dancing with his Mom.  (taken from the balcony, too far a way with too little flash, doctored up a bit)

My cousin Marcia's youngest son, Charlie.  Such a cutie with those blonde curls.

My boys.

Me dancing with a very tired boy to What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.  Soon after this picture, the battery ran out.  That what I get for giving the camera to the 11 year old.

Photo Challenge: Talented!

The Paper Mama

I entered this picture of Noah in the paper mama's photo challenge.  His season may be over for this year, but I completely believe that we are not done watching this little guy play baseball.  At 7 (he won't be 8 for 17 more days) he is younger than most of the other players on his team.  Yet he has an amazing ablilty to focus on the game and make the play.  My favorite from this year was when he was playing picter and scooped up a grounder, bare handed and threw it off balance (to avoid hitting the Coach from the other team) making a perfect throw to get the runner out.  He did not get a home run this year, but did hit numerous tripples.  He has amazing body control....when he wants to.   Way to go Noah!

Blueberry Smile

Blueberry Smile, originally uploaded by awilley1.

The last Creative Boot Camp word promt of the day is smile. Here is a picture of Ben this morning wearing his blueberry breakfast bar. He is usually wakes up a happy guy, and he loves to eat, so breakfast is usually a good time to get lots of smiles.

Hush

Hush
Word promt of the day. Hush.
How do you get a 7 year old to be quiet? The only way I have found is to get them to go to sleep.
Even then, the silence is temporary.

Full Bodied

Word Prompt of the day for Creative Boot camp was full bodied. I had a hard time coming up with something for this, but think in the end a Guiness is a truly full bodied drink.  Thanks for leaving one in the fridge, Russ.

Drizzle

Drizzle
We have gotten rain it seems every day for the last week or so. Good for the garden and flowers, but bad if you don't like weeds. They are everywhere.....well, growing like weeds. Today's word prompt is drizzle. Luckily I was out taking pictures of the flowers in the rain yesterday. So maybe I can catch up on yesterday's assingment today. Take Care everyone!

Fly

I went to bed without having had any time to work on Creative Boot Camp and the word prompt of the day Fly. I had hoped to get out to try to photograph some of our fine feathered friends earlier in the day, but time got away from me. Then, as it some times happens when you have unfinished business, I woke up in the middle of the night and could not go back to sleep. Some times moving to the recliner helps, so I tried that, but the clock was ticking so loudly, I could not get back to sleep. Then it hit me. Time flies by even when you can't sleep. This is a picture of the clock that was keeping me awake last night.

On a side note we are all so excited that Ben learned to ride his ride on toy forward this weekend.  It only took about ten minutes for him to get the hang of it.  I think the trick was that he had gotten on all by himself and was happily going along backwards, instead of us trying to put him on, and showing him.  It made all the difference in the world.  Did I mention that he has a small stubborn streak?  I did not get any pictures yet, but will try to get some soon.  His PT will be so excited.

Fluid

Fluid, .
I'm trying to catch up on posting some of my pictures from Creative Boot Camp. The word for this day was fluid. I was planning to go outside while Ben was taking his nap, and try to find a creative way to photograph water. Then while making omelets for lunch, it hit me how fluid the eggs were. So I quick snapped a picture of them before I scrambled them up. I was surprised at how the picture turned out. I liked it enough that I did not bother going out during nap to try to take any others.

Grow

The word of the day for Creativity Boot Camp is Grow. (OK it is really not today's word, but I am a few days behind). Ben came out of the bedroom trying to wear my shoe. It was really cute and he was doing a good job of trying to walk in my big shoes. He is really growing up, so this is my picture of grow.

Creative Boot Camp Assignment - Multi Layered

Old House Siding, originally uploaded by awilley1.
I finally got a shot I liked for the multi-layerd assignment for Creative Boot Camp. This photo was taken looking up at the siding on what used to be an old house dating back to the 1900's on my family farm. The house was split in half and each half was used as a shed many years ago. Only the front half of the house remains. Inside the old "kitchen" there is still wallpaper on the walls.

Ben's Bath Collage

I have been taking part in a creative boot camp this week at http://creativebootcamp.blogspot.com/. Yesterday, it was late in the day, and I was trying to come up with a picture for the daily assignment with the theme multi layered. The only thing I could think to do was to take some pictures of Ben in his bath and try to layer him with bubbles. I learned a couple things from this exercise. 1. Toddlers are stubborn. 2. They are slippery when wet. 3. When you have a camera, and really want to get a specific shot, they know not to look at you, or near you, and mostly they just turn their back to you. 4. I already knew these things, but somehow thought he might cooperate. The results included some cute pictures but none that showed multi layers. My favorite is the one in the bottom middle. I finally got him to look at me when I said "Ben do you want to eat?" That is him signing eat. He never misses a meal.
